Davie was born in Lerwick, in 1953, but brought up on
the island of Foula, one of the U.K.s most remote islands.
Brought up with a singing family, Davie was introduced
to harmony singing from an early age, but it wasn't for
much later before Davie started to play. At the age of
15, Davie met with Neil Thomson from Fair Isle at the
boys hostel in Lerwick, and this was to lead to Davie
taking up the guitar, with a few lessons from Neil.
